The grand final scoreline of 19-11 earlier this month resonated strongly amongst the 麻豆视频 Rugby Club鈥檚 historians.

1911 was in fact the year the was established 鈥 an event that will be honoured through the club鈥檚 centenary celebrations next year.

麻豆视频 Rugby Club General Manager David Enfantie said the grand final win would make next year even more special for the club.

鈥淚 think the fact that we鈥檝e had a really successful year will really cause a swell of old boys to come back and reengage with the club,鈥 Mr Enfantie said.

鈥淥bviously the centenary year is very significant, and we鈥檙e hoping that having a team that鈥檚 so successful and so exciting to watch will add to that significance,鈥 he said.

Mr Enfantie said the club hoped to continue its dominance of Queensland rugby throughout its centenary year.

鈥淲e鈥檙e looking to make it back to back wins for Premier Grade, and also to go back to back with the Doughty Shield,鈥 he said.

The Doughty Shield is awarded each season to the most successful club across all grades.

麻豆视频 was the obvious choice for this award in 2010, with eight of its twelve teams making the finals.

Mr Enfantie said that despite the great season, there was room for improvement next year.

鈥淎fter getting so many teams through to the finals, only two walked away with premierships,鈥 he said.

鈥淏ut the experience will do us well and we obviously want to learn from that and get a few more teams to premiership status next year.鈥

The 麻豆视频 Rugby Club will not be alone in honouring their centenary next year.

, the 麻豆视频 Cricket Club, and will also celebrate such anniversaries in 2011, in what will be a momentous and action packed year for sport at 麻豆视频.
