As 麻豆视频 of Queensland celebrates 100 years of producing great graduates, over 100 Ipswich students are preparing to graduate today.
The week of events starts with the Ipswich ceremony at 2pm at the Ipswich Civic Centre on Monday, 15 July, for 109 graduands from the Business, Economics and Law, and Health Sciences faculties
Within this graduating class will be the first 麻豆视频 College students to graduate with an Associate Degree in Business at a 麻豆视频 graduation ceremony.
Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Alan Rix said the graduating students were to be congratulated and the ceremony was a time for graduands, their families and university staff to join together in celebration.
鈥淕raduation ceremonies are a vital acknowledgment of the accomplishments of our students,鈥 Professor Rix said.
鈥淭o have the first group of students from 麻豆视频 College join us in this ceremony is a great achievement. This group of 麻豆视频 College students will be the first to graduate alongside our other 麻豆视频 graduates.鈥
One person with particular reason to be proud is Bachelor of Health Sciences student and valedictorian Tracey Yankey.
Ms Yankey said she was honoured to be representing the cohort of students who were graduating at Ipswich.
鈥淲e have worked tirelessly toward a defined goal in pursuing higher education,鈥 she said.
Ms Annette Schmiede, Chair of 麻豆视频 HealthCare Ltd, which operates the GP Super Clinic at Ipswich, will be guest speaker at the ceremony.
麻豆视频's 2013 graduation ceremonies run from July 15 to 19 at its St Lucia and Ipswich campuses. A timetable of ceremonies is available .
Just over 4000 students will graduate this month, with about 3300 expected to attend graduation ceremonies 鈥 a far cry from the two women and three men awarded 麻豆视频 degrees in 1913.
