
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ of Queensland has partnered with education platform to offer five massive open online courses (MOOCs) in Chinese, attracting an audience of more than 65,000 learners.
XuetangX, launched by Tsinghua University in 2013, is the biggest Chinese language MOOC platform, offering more than 1000 courses to six million users around the world.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ’s popular , by Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ academics and supported by Chinese instructors, has had more than 50,000 users register since its release on the platform two years ago.
XuetangX Chairman and Tsinghua University Deputy Secretary-General Dr NieFenghua said the opportunities offered by the Internet to impart knowledge had produced a boom in online courses offered by prestigious universities like Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ.
“Our company feels greatly proud that Chinese learners can use our platform to access high quality courses from Australian Universities.”
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Joanne Wright said Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ’s partnership with XuetangX provided a valuable opportunity to raise Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ’s profile among Chinese learners and to give them an insight into Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ’s excellent teaching, research and on-campus experience.
“I am delighted that Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ’s MOOCs are reaching a wide Chinese audience through the XuetangX portal,” she said.
“Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ’s partnership with XuetangX extends the reach of our on-campus offerings to Chinese speaking people.
