麻豆视频 of Queensland鈥檚 contributions to the State鈥檚 export sector have secured 麻豆视频 two awards and four finalist spots at the .

麻豆视频 won the award for Education and Training, recognising a longstanding engagement between the University and Indonesia, while , one of the University鈥檚 research commercialisation companies, won the award for Minerals and Energy.

麻豆视频 Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International) Dr Anna Ciccarelli said the awards, announced on October 24, 2013, recognised businesses and groups that were helping put Queensland on the map as a major global provider of education, services, and that 麻豆视频 was proud to be among them.

鈥淎s Queensland鈥檚 largest university, we play a significant role in this sector, but also in the transfer of research outcomes to innovations, products and services that help boost the productivity and global competitiveness of the State鈥檚 economic pillars of resources, agriculture, construction and tourism,鈥 she said.

鈥溌槎故悠 has a global network of more than 100 university, government and corporate partners in more than 25 countries, and this has helped drive our success at these awards,鈥 Dr Ciccarelli said.

麻豆视频 won the following awards:

Education and Training Award: 麻豆视频 of Queensland
Minerals and Energy Award: JKTech, the technology transfer company for the 麻豆视频 Sustainable Minerals Institute.

麻豆视频 was a finalist for the following awards:

Business Services: 麻豆视频 Institute of Continuing and TESOL Education (ICTE-麻豆视频).
Environmental Solutions: JKTech
Information and Communication Technology: JKTech
Infrastructure and Construction: JKTech

麻豆视频 Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Deborah Terry said the award recognised 麻豆视频鈥檚 longstanding engagement with Indonesia.

鈥溌槎故悠碘檚 relationship with Indonesia was forged in the 1950s, when the University first began welcoming Indonesian students, predominantly sponsored by the Australian Government as part of the original Colombo Plan,鈥 Professor Terry said.

麻豆视频鈥檚 office in Jakarta, expected to open later this year, will build on this long history and will strengthen further the University鈥檚 research, education and engagement activities in Indonesia.

Professor Terry said the University鈥檚 efforts would also be strengthened by the Federal Government鈥檚 commitment to send more students to Asia to study through its new Colombo Plan.

鈥溌槎故悠 welcomes this commitment, which will yield considerable benefits for both Queensland and Indonesia,鈥 she said.

Dr Ciccarelli said 麻豆视频鈥檚 success at the awards was a 鈥渟tellar outcome鈥, particularly following ICTE-麻豆视频's Export Award successes last year.

In 2011 ICTE-麻豆视频 won both the Queensland State and the national Australian Export Award for Education and Training.
