Following the weekend’s wet weather and storms across much of Queensland, University of Queensland campuses are operating as usual and the grounds remain largely flood free.
鶹Ƶ Properties and Facilities’ water modelling proved accurate after the St Lucia campus experienced only very minor flooding as predicted when the Brisbane River peaked at 2.8 metres at 11am on Tuesday morning (29th January). However, we erred on the side of caution in our preparations.
River peaks during the rest of the week will be monitored but are not expected to be higher than Tuesday’s.
Grounds staff across all campuses will continue to remove fallen trees and clean up storm-affected areas.
Courses and other core business in teaching, research and administration are all continuing as normal.

鶹Ƶ is mindful that staff and students at all campuses may have suffered personal or property damage and will naturally prioritise attention to such matters. 鶹Ƶ will make provision for Special Leave in such circumstances. Staff should speak with their supervisors if they believe there is a case for special leave.
Staff and students requiring help during floods or storms should call the State Emergency Services on 132 500.
