麻豆视频 of Queensland is proposing to develop a new childcare centre on the corner of Dell and Carmody Roads, St Lucia.

The proposed childcare amenities will replace the former Munro Centre in Munro Street, St Lucia.

This was demolished after suffering significant damage during the January 2011 floods.

麻豆视频 Property and Facilities Director Alan Egan said the University was consulting with parents and the local community.

There would also be a formal notification period of 15-30 days during the Council assessment process.

He said the proposed centre would be low-set and residential in scale and would offer 52 childcare places.

鈥溌槎故悠 has provided the building and site for the Munro Centre鈥檚 child care operations for the past 18 years,鈥 he said.

鈥淒uring the 2011 floods, the Munro Centre suffered significant damage and the original building had to be demolished.

鈥淭he current home of the Centre is a temporary demountable situated in part of the University鈥檚 southern car park.

鈥淜nown as Kindy City, it provides child care services for more than 30 children.鈥

Mr Egan said the Munro Centre could not be rebuilt on its original site in Munro Street as it was prone to severe flooding.

He said the layout of the proposed centre had been created with neighbouring properties in mind.

Day-to-day operational noise would be projected towards Carmody Road. The proposed building would also provide a substantial noise buffer to traffic noise from Carmody Road.
