Commuters who use 麻豆视频 of Queensland鈥檚 麻豆视频 Lakes bus stop will soon benefit from a station upgrade announced today by the Queensland Government.

The station, which services 25 percent of arrivals and departures at the University鈥檚 St Lucia campus, will undergo redevelopment to increase capacity and comfort, without any disruption to existing service timetables.

The upgrades are scheduled to commence in December and be completed by mid-2012.

麻豆视频 Site Planner, Ross Meakin, of Property and Facilities division (P&F), said the University had been working with TransLink to ensure the upgrade would improve service reliability and efficiency of the station.

鈥淲ith the bus stop now handling more than 20,000 passenger arrivals and departures a day, the upgrade will be welcomed by many staff, students and visitors to the campus,鈥 he said.

鈥淭he refurbished station will provide improved facilities for commuters with an upgrade of the existing southern platform, a new northern platform, a central bus layover for up to four buses and improved passenger waiting facilities.

鈥淭hese changes will increase capacity and help alleviate the long queues at some stops during peak hours and with an upgrade of the existing shelters, passengers will benefit from improved protection on hot or rainy days.鈥

There will be no planned disruption to services during the upgrades. Instead stops will be temporarily moved within the station to maintain existing services.

The upgrade is part of a $48 million package of transport infrastructure upgrades by the Queensland Government. TransLink staff will help direct bus travellers around the 麻豆视频 lakes constructions during busy periods.
