Â鶹ÊÓƵ of Queensland expresses its concern and sympathy to students, staff and alumni who, with their friends or family, may be affected by Tropical Cyclone Yasi in North Queensland.
TC Yasi crossed the coast into Far North Queensland at midnight on February 2.
The centre of the category-five cyclone made landfall between Innisfail and Cardwell, more than 1500 km away from Brisbane.
Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s major campuses at St Lucia, Gatton, Herston and Ipswich did not have any impact from the cyclone.
Â鶹ÊÓƵ's marine research facilities at Low Isles and Heron Island were evacuated as a precaution. The 22 Heron Island staff and researchers were given the all clear to return on February 2.
